Crew

There are many versions of this story, each beginning in a different place and meeting on Nova Scotia's Eastern shore.

It all began with a group of women with diverse talents, unique histories and one common passion: surfing.

Introducing....The Crew.

Do you wanna buy a letter B?  Beth has a circus smorgusborgd of skills up her sleeve.

Oh my goodness...this theatrical screen siren, unicycle racing, stage singing, mountain climbing, hat knitting, get-up sewing, stair stunt falling, high flying, strong thinking, health conscious super activist...also finds time to consistantly surf and push her personal level of athletic progression.

Beth's not afraid to take an opinionated stance.  She reacts to life with spunk, special sauce and greets everyone with a surf stoked grin! XOXO

Caralee is a founding member of the pintail pirates and can be seen cruising the ‘hood on her cushy old school S9. Caralee can be counted on for road rockets, triple ocean dips, lake frolicking, dancing all night long, orchestrating the right music and lighting (small obsession with ambience), hilarity, trips to Martock and the city. Juel is really actually a mermaid.  She is rare and very real.  She makes us all think she was born with sea legs...but it's not totally true.  She was born with a beautiful bodacious mermaid tail.
She has magical, calm, mindful peace vibes emanating from her and when she blinks, sparkles bedazzle the air about her.  Juel truly is a gem that brightens the Atlantic coast and it's inhabitants with innocent inspiration.  Juel fuels the fire of true stoke.  She rocks the east with wild west charm and rips like a peaceful warrior...mermaid style! Janine “J9” Strickland is punk rock. J9’s Do-it-Yourself (DIY) ways makes her shorecore.  Yep, fixes her own boards, paints them too, makes her own clothes, fixes her car, etc. Janine cruises around the ‘hood on a pintail and is a founding member of the pintail pirates. She knows how to bring it, in the mud wrestling pit and in the water. She thirsts for big waves and heavy beach break and never backs down from a marathon session. Maya Hoehne saves the day. Always. OL gals are constantly fighting off accessory compliments and we owe it all to Maya who keeps our necks, ears, ankles and wrists looking great. Maya goes on snowboard trips with her husband Nic all winter long and in the Summer grabs Juel for secret surf missions. Maya holds it down at the country store (Theresa and Heathers Country Rite Stop) serving up smokes and lotto. Maya has a zoo at home; 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a chinchilla. Maya can make/paint/fix/build anything, and you'll always see her magic touch on everything from OL signage to OL Clothes and stickers.

Jen Jackson

Jen 'Jenny Utah' Jackson is the darling of the east coast surf scene.  She eats waves for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  She snacks on sand and eats shells and periwinkles for dessert.  This is because she signed a contract with King Neptune (before she even arrived in NS) to satisfy her hunger for surf and outdoor adventure.  King Neptune told Jen she had to promise to bring the sunshine inside her, out to everyone around her that loves the ocean (especially surfers).  He told her she would never go hungry for stoke if she signed the contract.  Yes folks, it's true...Jenny Utah is sponsored by King Neptune and forever brings the sunshine to everyone in her presence...even on the foggiest of dark days! XOXO

When she’s not creeping cute fellas with moustaches and shredding the dance floor with her radical dance moves complete with flailing limbs, Michelle can be found paddling her custom bright orange board, shredding the pow while singing “dam it feels good to be a gangsta“  (bright pink helmet), and tearing the streets and the mini ramp on her old school skate. Michelle “don’t eff with da” Hooey is shorecore. She resides at the OL house when she is not gallivanting around the world.

Amy, a native of Nova Scotia, recently packed up and moved to Burlington, Vermont, to pursue a sports marketing career with surf, skateboard, BMX, FMX, snowboard and film companies/tours.

Giving up surf for the mountains is tough; Amy hits up Hampton Beach as much as possible and rip shreds Lake Champlain on a wake-skate to make it through the day … heck, you gotta do what you gotta do!

For One Life Surf, Amy will be honing her media relations skills to get the One Life Surf name out there and will be visiting Nova Scotia as much as possible to help the ladies teach people to shred the gnar.
